Brassic: Cameras come to town for popular Sky Max series

Partington residents were warned to prepare for fireworks when the makers of a popular Sky Max series arrive in the town next week. They received a letter to tell them about filming for Brassic on land outside the old Moss View Community School from December 5. According to the letter, from a location manager for the makers of the popular Sky Max series Calamity Films, the filming is for scenes from Season 5 of the show, announced at around the time of the release of the previous season earlier this year. These scenes involve a fictional campsite with six caravans, one of which is to be set alight. It reads: “We will be creating a fictional campsite for the scenes we are filming which will include six caravans, some controlled campfires, along with other suitable props and sets. “It is important to note in one scene we will set a caravan alight. This will be a controlled stunt which will be organised and supervised by a professional SFX and pyrotechnics team.” A caravan arrives on location (Image: Pete McGovern) Created by Misfits actor Joe Gilgun and Shameless writer Danny Brocklehurst, Brassic is set in the fictional town of Hawley in Lancashire. The show tracks the lives of Vinnie O’Neill, played by Gilgun, and associates played by a cast including Dominic West and Michelle Keegan. Other locations used for filming in the past include areas of Bolton from Bromley Cross to the town centre, as well as the towns of Accrington and Bacup in Lancashire. The filming for Season 5 started in August this year and it is to conclude at the start of the New Year. The letter reads: “We are working closely with Creative England’s Filming in England team and Trafford Council. If you have any questions, or would be interested in registering your location onto Creative England’s location database, please contact [email protected]. “The location team are extremely excited to meet as many residents as we can. We would also like to thank all the residents who have already begun in helping us prepare for this project.”
