There is always at least one item which you’ve completely forgotten about until the last minute – then find yourself having to make a mad dash to the supermarket . Like with all supermarkets in the UK, Tesco will be adjusting its opening hours for the festive season including on Christmas Eve and Boxing Day . This means your local store will likely be open under different times compared to when it usually is. The opening times for Tesco will be different across its Express and Extra stores. You should always check your nearest shop’s opening times online before wandering down – just to be certain. The opening time of your nearest Tesco depends on if it is a larger Tesco store, or a smaller Express outlet. When we checked it’s opening times tool today, Tesco superstores and Extra stores are to most likely be open as usual on Friday, December 23. Stores normally open between 5am and 7am, then close between 11pm and 1am – although again, times will vary depending on where you live. Some are open 24 hours, and will be open from midnight to midnight on December 23. The smaller stores, so the Tesco Extra sites, are going to be open as normal on December 23. This means they’ll open at normally either 6am or 7am, and close at 10pm or 11pm. On Christmas Eve, these sites will open as normal – but we spotted some closing their doors as early as 6pm. Some are closing just one hour earlier. Tesco shops will then all be closed on December 25. If open, the shop may be open from 9am until around 6pm. More of the Tesco Express stores will be opening on Boxing Day with many reporting opening times from 9am until around 6pm or 7pm. People should be aware that sites which are located in city centre areas may be closed. These stores will most likely be the smaller Tesco shops and have stock which is catered to city centre workers picking up their lunch. The day after Boxing Day, which this year will be a replacement Bank Holiday for Christmas Day, Tesco will be opening their sites more often than not, with normal hours. When the time comes, it is always best to check before you go and you can do this using Tesco’s handy store finder tool on its website. You can use this to track down your local Tesco shop and double-check its opening hours, all you need to do is enter your postcode and the website will bring up your closest Tesco and others that are also nearby.
